This hospital was required to keep their hospital medical records for a period of thirty years. On top of that, as many as 3,500 new medical records are filed each year, and the hospital cannot simply expand their building’s physical footprint every time their records storage increases. For this reason, an automated, space-saving solution was chosen that would best utilize their existing space.
The automated retrieval carousel systems now store the same amount of 145 ft of filing systems in a footprint of only 8 ft. The machine is also positioned next to and can be controlled by a PC if needed. The hospital medical records are kept in hanging file folders that can be easily accessed, added to, or removed from the machine. The operator simply pushes a button and the files are brought directly to them. The ergonomic design also allows fast and safe access as well as wheelchair accessibility.
