Planning for Specialized Materials Storage in the Hospital
The building process was well underway when a new Cath Lab Team Leader joined the organization. Because she is a materials management professional, materials storage was a major concern. She was quick to take the lead in planning storage that was both efficient and affordable.

Powered High Density Systems in Sterile Supply and Cath Labs
In both the sterile supply and cath lab central storage areas, powered high density systems were selected for their ease of use and flexibility. The high density systems effectively double the capacity of each storage area and provide quick, safe access to items stored. Because retrieval time is crucial, being able to have immediate access to any given area at the push of a button was extremely important.
The adjustability of shelving was also critical since medical supply vendors frequently change the size of their boxes without notice. It’s essential that hospital staff can easily adjust the shelving heights to fit the boxes.
Pullout Storage for Hanging Catheters
Because catheters come in long, skinny packages, hanging was a must. A specialized pullout storage system was designed with 4-post shelving to ensure catheters are hanging and easily accessible. Since the storage system is located within the procedure room at the point-of-use, it will increase efficiency and productivity.
