The Dallas Cowboys Preserve Their History with SSG

Southwest Solutions Group® and The Dallas Cowboys have successfully completed the scanning and digitization of nearly 60 years of history from the Cowboys’ archival records.

With the construction and subsequent move of their world headquarters in Frisco, Texas, the team’s archivist, Jonathan Thorn, wanted to make sure their extensive history would be properly preserved. He also wanted to create a system that would allow them to easily catalog current events.

Preparing the materials for digitization wasn’t an easy task. Almost six decades of memorabilia, photographs, player contracts, documents, scrapbooks, health records, and more were spread out across multiple departments and stacked in boxes in warehouses. Every piece of information had to be found, sorted, and, in some cases, restored, as some items were falling apart due to age. The information included a wide range of mixed documents that all had to be scanned, including items like newspaper clippings and post-it notes.

Southwest Solutions Group was chosen due to their confidentiality and quality assurance as well as a determination to assist the Cowboys with completing their preservation goals with excellence. Over one million documents have now been scanned and digitized. A variety of historical pieces and iconic photographs are now displayed in the hallways and offices of The Star.
