A New Building Required Secure Storage Planning
West Texas A&M University Police Department was moving into a new building after its old facility became full and out of space. The department needed secure, discreet storage for records, evidence, and gear, plus a controlled evidence intake point and separated narcotics storage with venting to help reduce fumes.

The old police building was full and no longer had enough room for records, evidence, and gear storage. Moving into a new building gave the department an opportunity to plan storage around daily use rather than continue working around overcrowded rooms.
Separate Secure Areas
Records, evidence, and gear needed discreet secure locations instead of one general storage area. The new layout needed to support different material types while preserving controlled access and usable capacity.
Evidence Intake and Narcotics Separation
Incoming evidence required a controlled transfer point through pass-through lockers into the intake room. Narcotics needed a separate vented locker in the evidence room to keep them apart from other evidence and help reduce fumes.
High-Density Records Storage With Controlled Evidence Access

The storage approach fit the new building because it gave records, evidence, gear, and narcotics defined secure locations while using the available rooms at higher capacity. West Texas A&M University and the general contractor had worked with SSG before and were familiar with the team’s work.

Coordinated Installation Through the General Contractor
SSG coordinated delivery and installation with the general contractor as the new police building moved toward construction readiness. One evidence locker, sourced from another West Texas police department, was shipped ahead and held by the general contractor until the site was ready. SSG then installed the high-density records storage, evidence lockers, and narcotics locker during the scheduled window from January 28 to February 5, 2026.
Defined Records and Evidence Storage Needs
SSG reviewed the department’s need for secure records, evidence, gear, and narcotics storage in the new building. The planning focused on available rooms, controlled access needs, storage capacity, and separation by material type.
Planned Storage Around Dedicated Rooms
Project drawings guided the placement of the high-density records storage, evidence lockers, and separate narcotics locker. The layout aligned the storage scope with the new building plan and the general contractor’s construction process.
Managed Details Through the GC Contract
The project was procured through a general contractor contract, with SSG coordinating storage details as part of the broader building work. This kept drawings, approvals, and installation timing tied to site readiness.
Sequenced Delivery for Construction Readiness
SSG coordinated delivery as the project moved through construction. One evidence locker was shipped to the general contractor in advance and held until the rooms were ready for installation.
Installed All Storage Systems Together
Once the site was ready, SSG installed the records storage, evidence lockers, and narcotics locker at one time. The installation was completed during the scheduled window from January 28 to February 5, 2026.
Established the Final Storage Layout
The completed installation gave the department a defined storage structure for records, evidence intake, gear, and separated narcotics storage. The final layout matched the new facility’s dedicated rooms and records and evidence workflow.

The project gave West Texas A&M University Police Department clean, separate storage rooms in the new building. Files were condensed into one location, incoming evidence gained a pass-through transfer point, and narcotics were placed in a separate vented locker.
