Its design and installation resulted from a shared desire between members of a project planning team who wanted to provide on-site access to the facility’s entire book collection. Wanting the bookstacks to have the same bright, appealing and innovative feel as other areas that made up the new space, the planning team went ahead with ordering illuminated library book shelving. Its designed with an energy-efficient in-shelf LED lighting system that brightens up the books’ spines on each shelf so that users can recognize and access titles with ease while durable steel shelf frames surround a hollow conduit to ensure space that accommodates electrical wire. An LED light strip designed with an adhesive back mounts to the underside of each shelf, illuminating shelves underneath. The light power supply plugs into a standard outlet and can provide power to as many as 24 light strips or the same number of shelves. Up to five power supplies can daisy-chain together to power up as many as 120 lights in total. The end result turned out as self-contained school storage with a stunning architectural look that offers improved visibility while providing users with convenient access to reading books and materials used in the classroom.
