Shelving, cabinetry, controlled-access hardware, and mobile storage locking upgrades worked together to improve athletic equipment storage and daily room function.
TCU needed a more functional equipment room while preserving athletic storage systems that could continue supporting daily operations.
Athletic Storage Needed Better Control and Access
TCU's Athletics Department was relocating and modifying football and Olympic sports equipment storage areas inside the Walsh Athletic Complex. The existing storage systems needed targeted changes to improve organization, access, and security without replacing storage assets that could still support daily operations.
Existing Athletic Storage Needed Modification
The equipment storage systems still had value, but they needed changes to better support football and Olympic sports operations. TCU wanted to improve how gear, apparel, and supplies were stored within the available facility footprint.
Valuable Sports Equipment Needed More Secure Access
Athletic equipment storage required more secure access than the existing setup provided. The university needed lockable storage upgrades, including electronic keypad locks and added locking capability for mobile storage.
Equipment Access and Organization Needed Improvement
The equipment room needed added shelving, cabinet changes, and storage layouts that made items easier to place, identify, and retrieve. Staff needed a more orderly environment that could support daily equipment handling across multiple sports programs.
Custom Athletic Storage Upgrades Built Around Existing Systems
Southwest Solutions Group upgraded the Young Family Equipment Room by modifying existing systems and adding storage where the facility could support it. The work included storage units beneath mezzanine areas, two-tier drawers, garment rods, shelving, lockable doors, electronic keypad locks, modular casework, and upper cabinets. This approach improved secure access and storage flexibility while keeping useful assets in service.
Shelving, Cabinets, Doors, and Locking Upgrades
The project included wide-span shelving, adjustable shelving, modular drawer base cabinets, open upper storage cabinets, framed diamond perforated doors, electronic keypad locks, and hub locking system modifications for an existing mobile storage carriage.
Improved Sports Storage Without Full Replacement
TCU did not need to replace the entire storage installation. Modifying the existing athletic storage systems allowed the department to add capacity, improve access, and strengthen security within the current facility footprint.
More Secure Athletic Equipment Storage for Daily Use
The completed upgrades gave staff a more secure and organized sports equipment storage area for football and Olympic sports. Added shelving, cabinet reconfiguration, garment storage, and electronic access controls made the room better suited for daily equipment operations.
Storage Upgrades Installed Inside an Active Athletic Facility
Project planning began with a sales walkthrough on November 21, 2019, followed by custom design work for modifications to the existing athletic storage systems. Installation began on June 22, 2020, was completed on July 14, 2020, and closed on July 16, 2020. Southwest Solutions Group handled delivery, inside installation, storage modifications, cleanup, debris removal, and warranty support while maintaining university access requirements.
Review of Equipment Storage Areas
Southwest Solutions Group began with a walkthrough of the Walsh Athletic Complex to review the Athletics Department's goals for organization, security, and storage function. The team documented existing systems and access requirements before designing the storage modifications.
Planning Around Storage Systems and Access Points
The layout accounted for existing storage systems, mezzanine areas, double doors, equipment room circulation, and secure access needs. Electronic keypad locking requirements and storage changes were planned as part of the upgraded room layout.
Coordination Before Installation
Southwest Solutions Group prepared the project for delivery and installation inside the occupied athletic complex. Coordination covered approved storage modifications, building access, installation responsibilities, cleanup, debris removal, and warranty support.
Athletic Storage Components Prepared and Delivered
Storage components were prepared for the planned modifications, including shelving, cabinet changes, framed diamond perforated doors, keypad locks, and mobile storage locking upgrades. Deliveries were arranged for inside installation at the Young Family Equipment Room.
On-Site Storage System Installation
Technicians installed the storage upgrades, modified existing systems, added shelving and cabinets, and completed the electronic locking work. Installation was completed while maintaining the access requirements established by the university.
Closeout, Cleanup, and Warranty Support
Southwest Solutions Group completed site cleanup and removed installation debris after the work was finished. Warranty support was included as part of the final project scope.
More Secure and Organized Athletic Equipment Storage
After installation, TCU's Athletics Department gained a more functional sports equipment storage environment for football and Olympic sports operations. The project added storage capacity, improved organization, strengthened electronic access control, and made better use of existing athletic storage systems without requiring full replacement.
Improved Storage Capacity and Security
The upgraded equipment room provided added shelving, better cabinet layouts, and secure access controls. TCU improved storage capacity and equipment security while preserving existing storage assets wherever possible.
Better Access to Athletic Equipment
The modified storage systems improved accessibility for athletic equipment and supplies. Staff gained a more practical setup for organizing, storing, and retrieving football and Olympic sports gear.
Better Organization Across the Equipment Room
New shelving, drawer base cabinets, upper cabinets, and garment storage modifications helped create a more orderly equipment room. The changes supported better placement of apparel, equipment, and supplies.
Existing Systems Continued to Support Operations
By modifying and expanding existing storage instead of replacing the full installation, TCU gained a more useful storage environment within the current facility footprint. The upgraded systems provide continued flexibility for athletic equipment operations.
