More time, in fact, than receiving instructions, waiting, logging transactions, and picking parts combined. How much productivity are you really losing and how much are you spending on labor? CSI specification 41 51 13 automatic material storage and ASRS systems virtually eliminate extraneous travel and search times with their goods-to-person principle that brings stored items and parts directly to the operator, and even directs them to the exact part to be picked. ASRS storage systems are available to all types of warehouses and facilities in Saint Louis, Springfield, Columbia, Lee’s Summit, O’Fallon, Saint Joseph, Saint Charles, Saint Peters, Blue Springs, and throughout the state of Missouri.

CSI 41 51 13 automatic material storage and ASRS systems not only reduce labor costs, but they also improve productivity, reduce the risk of worker injury, and save massive amounts of floor space. There are three types of automatic material storage and ASRS systems that are most commonly installed in warehouses: vertical carousels, horizontal carousels, and vertical lift modules.

Vertical carousels contain a series of vertical rotating drawers or shelves that rotate into position at an ergonomic, waist-high work counter with the push of a button. Since the vertical carousels use otherwise wasted overhead air space, they can save up to 80% of your floor space compared to static shelves with aisles. They can also improve productivity by up to 56% due to their increased ease of use and accessibility.csi 41 51 13 saint louis springfield columbia lees summit ofallon joseph charles peters blue springs

Horizontal carousels are integrated with inventory management software to automatically bring parts to the point of use for the operator to quickly pick and retrieve them. The software automatically rotates the carousels and instructs the operator how many parts to pick for several orders at a time. They save both space and labor since parts are brought to the operator, eliminating the need for extra space for aisles between rows. Often, horizontal carousels can provide 40% labor savings since they require less picking operators then in picking operations without automatic storage.

Vertical lift modules (VLMs) also save space by utilizing overhead air space to store inventory. The enclosed system of vertically arranged trays automatically extracts and delivers the trays to the operator at an adjustable-height work counter. When trays are stored, CubeStar® technology automatically scans the height of the items on each tray and stores it in the least amount of space needed in 1 inch increments to further maximize storage capacity. VLMs can recover up to 85% of otherwise wasted floor space, increase productivity by up to 2/3, and increase picking accuracy by up to 99.9%.
