Storing High-Value Communications Equipment
Nearly 500 students attend different classes at one school of communication offering Bachelor’s degrees in TV/Film, Design, Text and Event, as well as other subjects. The school recently moved to a new premises and, with increasing enrollment and supplies, needed to plan their space carefully to allow for future growth. The building was equipped with vertical two story lifts for storing university student media and communications equipment in less space and with better accessibility and security than traditional shelving and racks. Two Story Lifts Provide Increased Security in less Space
While the university was determined to save space and allow students to easily access their equipment, they also needed to ensure that these items, especially high-value production equipment, was securely stored. Since this equipment is both heavy and extremely valuable, it was also hazardous for students to carry it up and down stairs and increased security risks.
A vertical lift with two access openings was designed and installed over two floors. The unit has one opening in the ground floor of the library where students have access, and a second opening on the first floor in the offices of employees. To access equipment, students just press a button to indicate which piece of equipment they need and it’s automatically delivered to them across multiple floors. The lifts also include restricted access controls defined individually for each user as a security measure to prevent theft.
