Old library shelving made new with bracketed lighting & acrylic end panels
High laminate topped library shelving with bracketed lighting and acrylic end panels came about as a result of a long-standing relationship between a storage salesperson and a public library. Its creation was driven by a desire to renovate existing units, which had been installed in a dozen branches years earlier. In addition to lighting and newly-looking end panels, two of the branch locations slated to participate in the remodeling were needing something to cover the very peak of their units, which stood at a height of 52″ and 66″ high. Unique features were to be fitted at their request, so as to update the systems’ appearance. Designing bracketed lighting & acrylic end panels
In order to ensure the library received high laminate topped library shelving with bracketed lighting and acrylic end panels by the project’s end, everything from the material for the tops and lighting components to the intricate design and detailed decoration of exterior end panels was given careful consideration. The features to be added – including the lighting for the bookshelves and graphics featured on the acrylic end panels – to the units were chosen with direct input from the library director and marketing department. The acrylic panels were handled by a local company, who specialized in the production of corporate signage. A sample of the preferred light was also sent away to storage experts for help with engineering a one-of-kind bracket, which would allow for the lighting to be attached to the shelving.
Adapting library shelving lights & custom end panels
The bracket used in the creation of high laminate topped library shelving with bracketed lighting and acrylic end panels was employed at the first library for the purpose of adding the lights and custom end panels to the shelving. Tops made from steel were also installed. The bracket was again used in the same fashion at the second library branch location. However, varying tops made from maple laminate, which were slightly wider than the shelves, were used to help conceal the bracketed light.
