CSI 11 53 13 Laboratory Fume Hoods & ventilation systems

CSI 11 53 13 laboratory fume hoods & lab air ventilation systemsCSI specification 11 53 13 laboratory fume hoods are lab ventilating extraction systems that provide air filtration and fume extraction. There are a wide variety of fume hoods available for you to choose from, including ADA compliant, bypass, add air, and variable air fume hoods.

types of laboratory fume hoods

The laboratory fume hoods all include chemical resistant interiors of resin-chem, PVC, or stainless steel with PVC or stainless steel sash guides. Vertical, horizontal, or a combination of sashes are available in a variety of materials. The fume hoods provide easy access for service fixture installation and can have manual or remote baffle adjustment. The fume hoods also come with a fluorescent light fixture for visibility. Bypass fume hoods are for if the amount of air being supplied into the room is adequate to accommodate the exhaust volume of the fume hood. The bypass fume hoods have a double bypass to provide constant exhaust volume and limit changes in face velocity. The upper bypass functions automatically with the raising and lowering of the sash window while the lower bypass provides continuous air sweeps of the work surface.

Add air fume hoods are designed for when there isn’t enough air supply available for air filtration and fume extraction. The add air fume hoods provide up to 70% of the hood exhaust requirements by introducing outside air through the add air plenum, which minimizes the amount of conditioned room air required.CSI 11 53 13 lab ventilating fume hoods & extraction systems

Variable air volume fume hoods are designed to be used with an adjustable damper system in the ductwork. These fume hoods are ideal for when air consumption and energy costs are a concern because when used with a VAV control systems, these fume hoods will drastically reduce the total amount of air consumed. The variable air volume fume hoods has a lintel that restricts air intake of the hood to the sash opening band lower bypass. Fume Hood Checklist

ADA compliant fume hoods are designed to meet the needs of wheelchair operators. The ADA compliant fume hoods deliver all the features and capabilities of standard fume hoods with ADA accommodations built in.
