Eliminating Lab Fumes with Added Economy Through An Add Air Plenum
The Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood provides up to 70 percent of the hood exhaust requirements for eliminating lab fumes through the use of a front mount “add air plenum”. Outside air is introduced through the add air plenum, which minimizes the amount of conditioned room air required for eliminating lab fumes. (Lab Fume Hoods Images)
Velocity and Air Flow Features of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood
The superstructure entrance of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood is framed with inward angled members that minimize turbulence and provide smooth movement of air into the hood. This design allows for efficient operation of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood at face velocities ranging from 60 to 150 FPM. Additionally the built-in bypass feature above the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood’s sash window works to maintain a relatively constant face velocity at any sash opening position. Fume Hood Checklist.
The front mounted add air plenum of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood utilizes a series of diffusers and louvers to provide a uniform flow of supply air to the face of the hood. This uniform air flow allows for providing up to 70% of the overall air volume requirements of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood through the add air plenum.
Sash and Construction Features of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood
The Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood comes equipped with a full view laminated safety glass sash with a full width flush pull and counterweight for easy operation. A lower airfoil acts as a sash stop that provides a 1” space for air to continuously flow into the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood and across the work surface.
Double wall construction of the superstructure provides adequate space on both sides of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood for installation of service fixtures and routing of plumbing and electrical lines. The lining of the interior work area of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood is white resin-chem with removable interior access panels on both sides. Removable exterior side panels provide easy access to fixtures and their service lines.
The interior of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood is brightly lit by a maximum width dual fluorescent tube light fixture. The fixture is mounted behind a sealed safety glass panel to isolate the fixture from corrosive fumes and flammable vapors. Replacement of the lighting tubes is accomplished from the exterior top front of the Add Air Laboratory Ventilation Hood’s superstructure.
