Service is top priority, so the necessary spare parts from a wide variety of vehicle types and model years must be kept in stock on site. The focus for the company was on service and rapid spare parts supply, and they needed a storage solution that would allow them to quickly find parts and deliver them where they’re needed. The parts must also be available quickly and reliably to maintain billing deadlines. Their existing static racking systems stored parts in cardboard boxes and storage bins; it was difficult for staff to quickly find what they needed when they needed it.

A parts and storage volume analysis was conducted. Since the parts required special storage due to their different sizes, shapes, weights, and packaging, a vertical shuttle lift was selected. All parts are stored on 73 trays with a total usable width of 3,050 mm. Warehouse management is performed using the vertical shuttle lift’s parts locating and picking software.
