How Powered Compacting Shelving Works

Instead of having aisles and rows of shelving that waste space, high density shelves eliminate the need for extra aisles by compacting together when not in use. When a user needs to retrieve an item, they simply push a button to open the desired aisle. The control touchscreen is user-friendly, with easy-to-read command prompts.

Automatic Safety Stops

automatic safety stops no gap rails powered shelvingInfrared safety beams run the length of the shelving units to provide protection for system users and stored items. If the beam encounters an obstruction (for example, someone’s shoe or an item that has been left in the aisle), then the system will automatically stop. Before the shelving can be used again, the obstruction must be removed and followed by pressing a safety reset button. This OSHA-approved safety method comes with every powered system.

No-Gap Rails

The problem with some mobile shelving is that the rails aren’t mounted flush to the floor. This gap where the rail sticks up causes tripping hazards and could potentially be a source of serious injury. The no-gap rails eliminate this risk entirely, as they’re mounted flush to the floor. The tracks are ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible.

Power Distribution

With overhead hinged arms, power is distributed evenly from one shelving unit to the next.

Backup Battery Packs

In the event of a power failure, backup battery packs are provided so you can still access your storage. The packs are easy to use and plug directly into the control pad.

Store Virtually Anything

What makes the powered compacting shelving such a great investment is the fact that you can store almost anything in any industry, whether it’s files and folders, electronic parts, or heavy and bulky items. Click here to find out more of what you can store on high density shelving.
