Extra Wide 4-Post & Mobile Shelving
New extra wide options for static and mobile shelves are now available for storing large and bulky items in less space. In widths up to 72 inches (54″, 60″, 66″, 72″), this shelving provides more storage options for heavy items that don’t require the high-capacity rating of heavy-duty mobile shelves.
The extra wide shelves can be used for static storage or can be mounted on mechanical-assist mobile carriages for even more space savings and storage flexibility. When used with floorless mobile shelving, which requires a rail placed at the base of each upright, the wider span between the uprights results in fewer rails needed to support and move the units. The carriages can be up to 20 feet long with a maximum storage capacity of up to 9,000 lbs for unleveled rails. For leveled rails, the carriages can reach up to 24 feet long with a capacity of up to 12,000 lbs. When combined with steel stanchions and open uprights instead of solid panels, the extra wide system allows for larger items to be stored with greater visibility, including long items spanning several shelving sections.
Extra Wide Shelving for Healthcare & Clean Storage
Additionally, the extra wide shelving provides a cleaner and more polished appearance than industrial shelving, which makes them ideal for a wide range of applications. Many healthcare settings have combined the extra wide shelving with mobile shelves using open uprights and hybrid wire shelving, steel stanchions, and aluminum floorless rails for supply room storage and more. The wire shelves promote a clean environment, and shelf supports can also be inverted to prevent the accumulation of dust and allow ease of cleaning.
