Library Bookmobile Bookstack Shelving

A bookmobile is an innovative mobile solution that allows libraries to be accessed anywhere and everywhere. Southwest Solutions Group® supplied cantilever bookstack wall mounted library shelving and children’s furniture in one public library’s bookmobile to hold and stabilize their branch’s collection of books, magazines, large print materials, and more (see images).

The bookmobile interior for a public library was contained in a customized bus that needed to be renovated with reliable and durable shelves to store and stabilize their collections. Because of their need for customization, adjustability, and stability, it was decided that they would install wall mounted bookstack library shelving. Standard cantilever shelving was designed with sloped shelves. The wall mounted shelving was placed above their counter area to save space. For extra safety measures, the shelving can be wall-mounted or floor-mounted.

The sloped, low back shelves keep books and other materials in place during transport. The majority of the floor-mounted shelving is designed with 15″ depths and 36″ widths. The wall-mounted shelving was designed with 10″ sloped low-back cantilever shelves to accommodate a smaller section. The shelving was painted in standard colors, and several shelves were then coated with various other bright colors for their children’s section. Each shelf is adjustable up and down on 1″ increments and meets Library ALA standards.
