How Wire Carousels Work
A wire carousel consists of a system of vertically arranged carriers rotating automatically to conveniently deliver stored spools to the operator. Each carrier contains three compartments, or bays, which can be independently configured to store diameter spool sizes, from a single large spool to several smaller spools. Simple push-button controls cause the carousel to rotate up or down to bring the desired carrier to the operator, and a security keypad controls access to the carousel.
Loading the Wire Spool Carousel
To load a spool into the wire carousel, follow the simple process below:
- Insert one of the provided hanger rods into the spool.
- Enter the security code into the keypad and press the directional control button to lower the desired carrier bay to the lowest possible level.
- Insert loading pins into the vertical safety latches to hold the frame open for loading.
- Roll the spool up to the carrier frame, either manually or with the optional loading dolly for heavier spools.
- Hook the hanger rod into the desired frame slot in the carrier bay and ensure the spool is securely in place.
- Pull the dolly away (if using) and remove the safety latch loading pins.
To repeat the process, reenter the security code in the keypad and position the next carrier for loading.
Retrieving Wire from the Spool Carousel
To retrieve cable or wire from the motorized wire carousel, use the directional push-button controls to rotate the desired carrier to a convenient level for retrieval.
Two optional measuring systems can help you measure and cut a precise length of wire from a stored spool. The first measuring method mounts to the face of the carousel and slides on a track for use with any carrier position. The other option is mounted on a cart and can move independently to and from the carousel as needed.
Once you’ve measured and cut the length of cable needed, make sure to re-roll the wire and clamp it, so no loose ends are left dangling from the spool while the carousel is in motion.

- Wire loading dolly for spools up to 300 lbs.
- Spinner spool – occupies a single wire bay and features 24 possible positions for smaller spools up to 10″ in diameter; 8 interchangeable rods per spinner
- Custom colors available on request
