New Storage Systems for Air Force Base
In a recent installation, an Air Force base combined their new storage system of benches, tool cribs, maintenance drawers, and more to create a fully functional and extremely efficient, professional storage space.
Since their storage area included such a huge variety of tasks and types of items that needed to be stored and accessed, finding a storage system that would encompass all of their needs at once was a challenge. Storage experts worked alongside the Air Force section chiefs to come up with a plan. Each area had a main storage space that required work counters and storage, a bulk storage area on the second floor, a battery charging room, a COSO (combat oriented supply operations) area for storing equipment used in the hangers, and large and small carts to transport items within the hanger and repair area. The storage area also needed to look clean and professional at all times, as commanders and dignitaries passed through the areas often.
Configurable Military Storage
The Air Force chose a mobile system with tool and parts drawers for maintenance, a custom lift for their tool crib, laptop charging cabinets, and counter-high cabinets with configurable drawers. The system is made of components that are sturdy and durable for years of use while providing a clean and finished look. Since the floor could not be tiled or raw wood, a resin deck, typically seen in mezzanines and warehouses, was used instead. An aluminum treadmill ramp gave it a final look. Everything in the storage system is reconfigurable so they can make changes and adjustments in accordance with their needs.
The configurable drawers on high density shelving provide them with the maximum amount of space possible in the smallest footprint. Meanwhile, the drawers are entirely modular and can be configured with options that make storage and retrieval of tools and other maintenance items quick and easy. In the battery charging room, the heavy batteries and equipment are stored on similar heavy-duty high density shelves made for industrial applications.
