Stopping the Spreading of Germs Using UV Light to Disinfect Medical Instrumentsuv light is used in hospitals for disinfecting medical instruments

Imagine you’re a nurse…where do you go? Waiting rooms, patients’ rooms, bathrooms, nurse stations, break rooms, etc. In each of these areas, what do you touch, what do you use? Laptop, pens, surgical equipment, smart phone, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, scissors, patient beds, ID card, keys, glasses, thermometers, etc. When you go from room to room and patient to patient, what germs do you come in contact with? Countless bacteria and viruses: e.coli, SARS, H1N1, MRSA, salmonella, fungi, etc. So how do you disinfect medical instruments and personal items you touch? By using UV Light. UV Light cabinets will disinfect medical insturments and personal items you touch to stop the spread of germs and bacteria.

How does UV Light help us? When ultraviolet light has a C wavelength (specifically 254 nm), it breaks apart molecular bonds of DNA. So how can your everyday nurse or doctor take advantage of this technology? With the UV Flash. The UV Flash is an infection control station that uses UVC lamps to eliminate potentially harmful pathogenic microorganisms from a variety of objects.

How To Use the UV Flash

Step 1: Roll the UV Flash into whatever area it’s needed: waiting room, patient’s room, bathroom, nurse station, break room, etc. Since it only uses 120 volts of energy, no special outlet is required.

Step 2: Place medical instruments and personal items to be disinfected on the adjustable UV Light shelves (ex. stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, smart phones, glasses, etc). The wire shelves enable the UVC lamps to reach all sides of the object and disinfect the entire surface area.

Step 3: Close the door and press the start button. After only 60 seconds, the system indicator light will turn from red to green, meaning your medical instruments and personal items are disinfected and ready to use.
